New post does not show up anywhere

  • Unknown's avatar

I created a new post to my blog late last night and published it, but it is not visible anywhere. I don’t even see it on my Dashboard under “Your Stuff”. However, it is under the “Posts” section of my Dashboard.

I then created a “test” post and published it and it came out fine. For some reason, the one entry I want published won’t post even if I copy the code, delete it, and enter the code into a new Post.

I’ve made many posts before this and have not had a problem. Anybody know what’s up?

    Thanks in advance!

    Joe

What “code” are you trying to enter? Can you show us here, putting it between backtciks? The backtick is just left of the number 1 key.

You may have saved it as a draft instead. Open it up for editing and, if found, click on the publish button.

Hi ellaella, thanks for your reply. Here is the code I am using:

<p style="text-align: left">I know, I owe it to my 3 dedicated readers to keep this blog going and I apologize for the lack of updates. I'm sure you have lost some sleep wondering if I made it through the month of November. Anyways, things are going well and I'm excited for Christmas and just as excited for 2008. </p>
<p style="text-align: left">I need to let you know about LORE Clothing. It's a clothing company that my brother Kenny and his two buds have put together. Things are starting to come together for them to the point where they are starting to see a reward for all the sleepless nights that have gone into the design and creation of LORE. They have their online store up, so if you are tired of the same 3 shirt designs you see at Pac Sun, head over to <a target="_blank" href="http://www.loreclothing.com">www.loreclothing.com</a> and support the family by buying some merchandise. </p>
    <p style="text-align: left"> <img vspace="1" width="360" src="http://joechacon.wordpress.com/files/2007/12/loreshot.png" hspace="1" alt="Lore Clothing" height="240" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left">In other news, the Lagwagon Softball Club finished the regular season with a 4-6 record, which was good enough for the last playoff spot. Not very impressive, but I know we could have easily been 7-3 if it weren't for shitty umpiring and our streaky hitting. Some games we would score 20 runs and win and other games we would just go silent, get 4 or 5 runs, and lose the game. Wednesday night we take on a team called the Noble Few who finished the regular season 10-0. If we win that game, then we play the championship game immediately following. My prediction? Don't ask... </p>
<p style="text-align: left">Work is going good, I've found a balance in maintaining what I've learned during my 7 years of working for State Farm and at the same time conforming to the structure of this new agency I work for. I truly enjoy my job now and will have an easier time focusing on finishing my degree now that I don't have the stress of worrying about being happy in the office.</p>
<p style="text-align: left">I'd have to say that November 2007 is going to go down as a great time. I was able to spend Thanksgiving with my brother Kenny for the first time in what feels like 10 years. Then the week after that he came up to be with the family for the annual USC/UCLA party we have at Grandpa Joe's house. As you know I am a die hard SC fan and I'm stoked they beat FUCLA, but the highlight of the day was doing Yeager bombs with Genie and Kenny and then heading down to the Pier afterwards and spending time together there. It was really the first time we all just went and hung out for the night. </p>

<p style="text-align: left">This is a picture that will long be one of my favorites. I can't wait to see my Grandpa's face on Christmas when I give him a nice framed 8x10 of this: </p>

<p style="text-align: left">Bella's vocabulary has increased so much over the past few months. Yesterday, just for the heck of it I asked if she has learned any Christmas songs at school. She said, "Yep....Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way......" She started singing the dang song! That just blew me away. I'm so thankful for her and how she's just growing up so well. Thank the good lord. She has her school Christmas program Thursday night. I'll see if I can find a way to get video on this page so you can see her. Well, how are you doing on your Christmas shopping? I'm proud to say that I am all done! I look forward to Xmas every year for two reasons...well, 3. The first reason is going to begin this year and that is Bella rushing to the tree and tearing open her presents. Sure this will be her 3rd Christmas, but it's the first year she has been able to tell us what she wants. Plus she pointed to a picture of Santa today and said, "He's going to bring me presents." #2 is Genie. When Genie and I got married and had our first Christmas, we sort of had this understanding that we wanted to keep that feeling of being excited to open presents. Well, in year 1 she must of had me open 18 presents, it was insane! I always want to spoil her so much, but especially during Christmas. I just can't wait until she and Bella are on the floor tearing open their presents. And the #3 reason why I love Christmas is the family traditions. The Xmas eve get together and my Great Aunt and Uncle's house, and the overall atmosphere of the season. For me it just all comes together and gives me that good feeling. </p>
<p style="text-align: left">Well, the clock has passed midnight and it's now 12:35a. At least it's one more day closer to Christmas.</p>

Does Bella do any contract work? ;)

  • Unknown's avatar

haha apparatus. She’s not taking any bids at the moment, perhaps in a few years after she fine tunes her editing skills. :)

  • Unknown's avatar

I copy/pasted all that into a test blog and it published just fine, including the photos and the link to the store you mentioned.

Is it draft status as theapparatus mentioned?

If not, try a copy/paste (into the Code tab, not visual) and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

  • Unknown's avatar

I click “Publish” and it gives me the response, “Post Saved – click here to view post”. So it saves the post and doesn’t publish it. However, when I go to edit it, it does say “Published” under “Post Status”.

I don’t want you guys wasting too much time on me, but I can’t figure this out. Usually I’m good at this stuff.

  • Unknown's avatar

You state that you do see it when you look at the Dashboard -> Manage -> Posts page, right? Along the right hand side of that, there’s a view link. Can you copy and paste the url for that link here please?

You don’t see any mention of “Private” or anything simular when you look at the manage page, do you?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m baffled. With any luck, someone else will be along soon.

You don’t have an advance timestamp on it, do you? (I’ve never used that feature so I don’t know if it would return the message you got. I’m just thinking of other possibilities.)

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi apparatus, thanks for helping me on this.

Here is the link you requested:
    http://joechacon.wordpress.com/2007/12/12/yeah-im-alive/

I don’t see anything marked private anywhere for this post.

  • Unknown's avatar

    I’m baffled as well.

I’d send in a feedback from the upper right of your dashboard. Tell them specifically that you’ve written that post and it’s not showing up. Make sure you include that url up there as well as the ID number for the post. (That’s in the left hand side of your Manage Posts page)

Sorry couldn’t help more than that.

  • Unknown's avatar

That’s fine. I will send in a support ticket. I appreciate you trying to help me though!

  • Unknown's avatar

The link doesn’t work, probably because the post slug still points to the first one you cancelled. Try to change the post slug (e.g. yeah-im-alive-2) and save.

  • Unknown's avatar

Afraid not. (ie the ‘-2’ bit doesn’t work.) That’s why I asked the poster to grab the link of the manage posts page.

    The link should work.

By the way, sobay, does the link work for you?

  • Unknown's avatar

Oh wait, I see what you;re saying. Not sure about that…

isadora is suggesting bringing up your post for editing, expanding the Post Slug blox along the right hand side of that page, adding in the -2 bit or changing the slug in someway, and republishing it.

Good suggestion. Hadn’t though of that. Sorry about that.

  • Unknown's avatar

I did try the slug change and it didn’t help.

The latest thing I’ve found is that the link DOES work for me, but I forward it to my co worker and it gives you the word press “you have got the wrong page” error message.

  • Unknown's avatar

theapparatus, sorry, there’s a little misunderstanding. The link does not work, as I said.
Probably because you deleted it and republished it with the same title (only an idea), so the database may have a problem with the slug. I meant you should edit the post slug in the post itself and not in the URL: when you edit the post there’s a field called post-slug on the right side. Change it and publish again. Maybe it works…

  • Unknown's avatar

Yup, sorry about that. I was thinking you were suggesting that the software had done that and one should modify what was in the browser bar to see the post.

I hope someone points out what the issue was when it gets resolved. Hadn’t seen this one before. (Unless it is a timestamp issue as noted up above.)

  • Unknown's avatar

Sorry, my answer came too late… :-)
