New Post Gone Missing
-
A newly written post disappeared after being published – it doesn’t appear in my list of posts and doesn’t show on my Dashboard either. I also noticed that when writing the post, my Category and Tags fields were gone as well.

Know that wee provide support here only for WordPress.COM hosted blogs on this support forum. Also know that we cannot provide accurate answers to any blogger who fails to provide the exact URL starting with http:// for the exact blog they refer to so we can verify where it is hosted. Please do that now.

My URL for my blog is http://kdaddy23.wordpress.com. Now, I cleared out my browser’s cache and cookies – that put Category and Tags back – but the post I wrote never reappeared, even as a draft – it was as if I never wrote it and clicked “Publish.”

Hello there,
Thanks for that URL.To locate draft POSTS Dashboard > Posts > All Post > Drafts
http://kdaddy23.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=draft&post_type=postTo locate draft PAGES Dashboard > Pages> All Pages > Drafts
http://kdaddy23.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=draft&post_type=pageProvided you did not create the post in the new Beep Beep Boop editor where it’s saved only on your browser, and is not auto-saved to the servers for your blog you may be able to recover a lost post or page.
If the post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New then you ought to be able to recover a lost post or page from revisions if needs be.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/
See also if applicable > restoring from trash http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash(If you are referring to a Page then see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-revisions/)
I recommend:
1. Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
2. Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New
3. Immediately after creating a post and entering a title click the save draft link. Thereafter, “click save draft” frequently.
4. Always allow pages to fully load before clicking any other links.
5. Never leave a post or page open for content creation or editing and walk away from it, or open another tab in the same blog and work on something else while it is still open. Save it properly and return to edit it later.
6. Use an offline blog editor so you have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/If you cannot locate a revision or restore from Trash then the content has been lost and cannot be recovered.

BTW I can access this post http://kdaddy23.wordpress.com/2014/12/11/todays-bisexual-thoughts-the-sex/

That post was written after the one that got “lost” – it was “Today’s Bisexual Thoughts: Doing What We Do”. And, yes, I looked in the usual places for my post. It wasn’t a draft – I had clicked “Publish,” sat and watched to make sure it did publish and went back to my Dashboard – and noticed that the post wasn’t there. Then I went into All Posts looking for it and it wasn’t there as a draft or as having been published.
I never use that new post thingy – it’s ugly and doesn’t allow formatting!

This is what I see in your feed for published posts https://kdaddy23.wordpress.com/feed/
I cannot locate the post in Google’s indexed content for your site.
If you cannot locate a revision or restore “Today’s Bisexual Thoughts: Doing What We Do” from Trash then the content has been lost and cannot be recovered.

Hi there,
I just looked through your account and I found your post! It looks like you accidentally posted it as a page rather than a post that day:
If you open your Dashboard and go to Pages >> All Pages, you should be able to copy the entire page and create a new Post to paste it in to.
Let me know if you have any questions!
