New Post not going to Sticky

I have just published a new post, i’ve ticked the box ‘stick to front page’ and my post doesn’t appear at all. Only under the category, but not on the front page at all. If I unstick the ‘stick to front page’ box, and leave it as just ‘public’ the post appears on the front page but not in the sticky area. I’m using Oxygen theme, so the design is to have 6 sticky posts at the top and everything else down the rest of the page. Can someone please help?

What is the title of the post? Is it “The ancient tales of Sri Lanka”? If so, it is the first post that appears just under the slider.
If you marked that post as a sticky, but the featured image is not large enough for the slider, it won’t appear in the slider.
