NEW POST Screen

How do I get the “old” NEW POST screen, the one with the black border across the top? I hate the one with the blue border.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Found it. Rather than choosing NEW POST from the black bar across the top of the page, I had to choose DASHBOARD – POSTS – ADD NEW . Hope it stays that way! Who needs change for the sake of change!!

Hi there,
We recently made a few changes to the editor flow that directs more users to the new editor here:
We’re constantly working on improving the look and feel of the new editor. For now, you can access the old editor using the flow you mentioned.
If you have any feedback on the new editor, please drop it here:

We’re working hard to make the experience as great as possible!

And every time you make a change “to make the experience as great as possible,” you introduce three new bugs!! In the old editor, now I can’t “ADD MEDIA” in a specific place – the media pops to the beginning of the file, and I can’t drag and drop it elsewhere, when I CUT it I can’t PASTE it, it disappears. A few days ago I lost the ability to scroll the text without scrolling the category list. The truth is you’re working hard to screw up as much as you can!! Put your effort into a testing protocol!

Hi there!
I’ve addressed your concerns below:
Now I can’t “ADD MEDIA” in a specific place
That’s odd – this feature is working correctly on my side. When I place my cursor in the middle of a line of text then add an image, the image is dropped correctly in that spot.
First, can you make sure your cursor is in the correct spot and not sitting at the top of the post?
Second, can you let me know if you’re experiencing this across all browsers or just your primary one?
A few days ago I lost the ability to scroll the text without scrolling the category list.
Is this through the Dashboard editor like the one below?

If so, when this happens, are you using a scrolling wheel on your mouse or some other method of scrolling?
I promise we’re working as hard as possible to alleviate all of the issues and pain points that exist currently. Unfortunately, it won’t happen overnight. But, we’re not going to give up! Thanks for your continued feedback and patience.

Thanks!
The “Picture-Pops-to-the-Top-of-the-Post” problem still occurs, on Firefox on an iMac. It works properly on Safari.
The “Scroll-Categories-When-Scrolling-Text” problem occurs with scroll wheel, keyboard arrows, and page up/down on Firefox.

Can you make sure you’re using the most up-to-date version of Firefox? Browser versions can be found here:

Hi there,
The current version of Firefox is 31. It looks like Firefox 12 was released back in April of 2012. We strive to support as many browser versions as possible, but I’m not sure we can stretch back that far.
Can you try downloading either a later version of your operating system or trying another browser like Google Chrome?

Thanks, but I’d like to spend my time on writing a blog, not chasing an out-of-control industry that lives on constant upgrades. How would you like it if your refrigerator had to be upgraded as frequently as you change WordPress? And you couldn’t use your refrigerator until it was upgraded? And every upgrade introduced new problems? And when you complained, you were told it was because your refrigerator was old and you needed to buy a new one? I sympathize with the full-employment aspect of your strategy, but the notion that you’re “working hard to make the experience as great as possible” just comes across as self-serving BS. If you really wanted to “work hard to make the experience as great as possible” you’d make backward compatibility your first priority. I hope you don’t take this personally, and instead pass it on to the folks in management.

Hi!
I definitely understand your frustration. As I mentioned, we try to support as many browser versions as possible, but it can be hard to build features that work on something so far back.
First, let’s make sure this is a browser issue. Can you try downloading another browser and see if you experience the same issue? I realize this takes a bit of work on your part, but it’s difficult to troubleshoot this without knowing whether it’s localized to Firefox 12.
Also, can I ask your hesitation about upgrading operating systems? The latest Apple operating system, Mavericks, is available for a free download.
While it would take a bit of time on your part not spending time on writing your blog, it would help to ensure that all features across the web (outside of even WordPress.com) continue to work correctly.
