New post screen change after upgrade

  • Unknown's avatar

Since I’ve upgraded to the Bromley template with customize upgrade the “new post page”, where I write my blog and add photos is very difficult to navigate. I can’t accurately write text under each photo, text is reflowed when browser window is resized. Only way to know where the text will fall is to hit preview. I need to be able to tell while I’m writing the post. And even then I can’t get the text in the right spot. This didn’t happen when i was using a free template with no custom settings. Also Photos no longer have a consistent width on the post. verticals vs. horizontals. They slightly vary. Is this a Bromely issue of am I doing something wrong here.
I’m starting to regret spending the extra money. The template is great but I’m so frustrated writing a new post. Please advise. Thank You.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello! Because this theme is so flexible, it definitely comes with a learning curve. You have many more options, but also many more settings of which to be aware when you’re putting your posts together.

I can’t accurately write text under each photo, text is reflowed when browser window is resized. Only way to know where the text will fall is to hit preview.

It would help me quite a bit if you could provide me with a link to a post (or several) where you’re having your trouble. I can help you find a solution so it won’t be a struggle for you.

Also Photos no longer have a consistent width on the post. verticals vs. horizontals.

Yes, Bromley isn’t automatically resizing the images in your posts. If you want the imagery to be uniform, you can make sure the photos are the same dimensions before you upload them into your Media Library. Or, once you’ve inserted them into a post, you can do that by following these directions:

Looking forward to hearing from you, and making sure you can display your lovely photos as you desire.

    Thanks for writing back.
I don’t publish a post if the appearance is not to my liking so I can’t show you what i mean. It’s in the edit window that the text doesn’t appear under the images when I insert it. Then when i hit preview, it’s entirely in a different place.

I do still have some learning to do in regards to all the settings. Is there a tutorial that is Bromley specific?

Also my image as exactly the same size as I export them from Lightroom so my presets don’t change for the blog. I know in the settings you can indicate pixel size for thumbnail, medium and large images. This solved the alignment problem in my previous template but in Bromley, the vertical images don’t line up with the horizontals.

actually this post aligned better when i first published it. Did something change in Bromley or in wordpress?
    Please let me know.

I will check those links out. Thank you. I have some more learning to do as well.

I have one more question. Pinterest has a code injection for sites where it injects the pinterest button. Do you know where i do that in wordpress?

    Thanks so much.

    Hi there!

This pin button option involves script code. There are several types of code that we don’t allow on WordPress.com for security reasons, such as iframes and script. You can read more about the code we do and don’t allow here:

    Add Code to Your Site

Here are a couple of other ways that you can integrate your Pinterest site with your WordPress.com site:

    1. You can add Pinterest to your Share links at the end of your posts. This will let your users easily be able to share your posts directly to Pinterest!

    Add Social Share Buttons

    2. You can verify your website with Pinterest! This will give you a little bit more information about the visitors who get to your blog through Pinterest:

    3. You can embed your Pinterest profile, boards, or individual pins. We have some directions on how to do this here:
