New post to display in slider and in text version below on home page

  I have the Forever Theme because I like the automatic slider. I would like the newest post to display the featured image in the slider (which links to the post), but also as a text link/normal post on the home page located below the slider. Right now, it looks like it is one or the other. Is there a way to make a post be public/text appear on the home page AND sticky to the home page/displayed in the slider?

  I would like the current most recent post (2-step spinach dip) to appear as it is right now as well as have the image appear in the slider. Please see my blog for reference.
