new posting format – troubles

  The new format of creating a new post is very finicky. I will create a post and then go back the next day and all of the spacing is gone, It becomes one big blob blog. ugh. In addition, all of the settings I had previously seemed to be removed including sharing. Do we have to request sharing for every post now?
  I’m confused about how to schedule a post to publish at a later time. It used to work okay in the old format, but now it just seems to post whenever it wants to – definitely not the time I set it for.
  I liked the old platform better-just saying.

  Hi thamarti,

  You are still able to use the old format to post. Instead of clicking on the New Post button at the top of the WordPress.com site, go to My Blogs, then the Dashboard for the blog you want to post to. From there you can go to the Posts section in the left hand menu, then to Add New.

  This should be the old format you are used to.
  Let me know if that helps.

  Yes, I have been doing that – going to dashboard and using that platform to create my posts, but they will no longer schedule from there (or at least it isn’t working for me) and the sharing settings from there do not work.

  I’m just looking at the the scheduled posts part right now. Two things I’m thinking of.

  First is your timezone set correctly in your Dashboard > Settings > General?

  The other is that scheduled posts don’t actually automatically get posted at the scheduled time. There needs to be an actual visitor to the site first. This triggers it to be scheduled. So if you have a post scheduled for 07/17/2014 at 2:15pm but no one visits the blog until the 18th, the blog post won’t get published until then.

  Oh, interesting. Yes, my time zone is set correctly. I checked that first.
  The other thing you mentioned, is probably the problem. I thought it just auto-fired at the set time. It did seem so random when it would work, or not. I guess I just need to not rely on the scheduling to publish a post. I don’t have enough people following to count on anyone visiting the blog on a regular basis. OK. thanks for that answer.
