New posting page mechanics seem to have changed for the worse

Hi. Today, when I got on my new posting page to post, both times I posted had the same two problems: 1) the page-advance mechanism on the right-hand side of the post seems to be gone, and the only way to get further down the page is to go to the extreme right-hand side of the posting page to advance the whole page there. 2) on the left-hand side of the page, there are now only icons instead of words for things like “posts,” “media” and the like. I prefer the words. How do I get the old forms of these two things back?

Yes, after I realized that “vertical scrollbar” was the terminology I was searching madly through my outdated mind to find, I discovered the other thread, and put a brief notice on it to this thread, so I guess I’ll just continue to hope that the uproar is serious enough that at least the scrollbar is restored. I realize that much has changed in the world, and that mobile users are V.I.P.s these days, but I don’t even own a complicated mobile device, just a simple tracphone, and I can’t imagine anyone actually finding it easier to type even a short post on a mobile device when they could do it at home on their desktop or laptop. I think mobile devices must be very convenient, on the other hand, for ANSWERING posts and for COMMENTING on blogs, but this disequilibrium of attention suggests that all WordPress.com is trying to do is to engage in a flurry of quick sound bytes, with no regard for the people who actually supply the thought-provoking and inspirational posts and photos that cause the flurry. That’s just one more disrespect of the author in the world and promotion of the quick-change artist and critic, and I find it extremely disturbing. Now I’ve said my say, but from what I gather from your remarks on the other thread, you don’t like it either, so I guess in a way I’m “preaching to the choir.” Druesome, a member of staff, seemed at a late point in the other thread to be attempting to conciliate or to take back some revisions, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if the good ol’ posting scrollbar comes back. I still have not discovered how to get the icons on the left-hand side of my posting screen on my dashboard to go back to showing the words instead of the icons. I’m not a person who doesn’t speak the language and who would therefore be totally reliant on an icon, and I wish they would restore the words, or at least give an option for those who can use them. Thanks very much for your quick response and ready sympathy.
