new posts by invited users on a private blog

  I want invited users to my private wordpress.com blog to be able to create new posts.
  I have invited 5 users via email and given them Author status.
  They can comment on an existing blog but I can’t seem to work out how they can do a new post.
  What am I missing?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  If they are Authors their posts won’t show till you approve them.

  Thanks rain coaster.
  I have approved two users but both are saying they can’t see how to post.
  When I am logged in I have a new post menu item top right next to me username.
  They don’t see to have this function.

  They should do; I do on a blog where I am a guest author (though it is not private). I’ll flag this for staff attention. In the mean time if you give them a link directly to the dashboard they may be able to post that way

  Hi, i also have,the possibility of guest posts, but I do not let them in my admin aerea, they write to me via mail.maybe you should do the sameto ctreate less convinences,for you,and for your readers

  Thank you catezapp. I will also look into this option.

  In the mean time the plot thickens. One of my invited users has new post menu item available now the other doesn’t. It seems like even though I sent out the invitation for all 5 with Author privileges, only one so far has been given them. The other seems only to have view.

  I’m sorry your authors are encountering that problem. Can you please have them try clearing out their cache and cookies?

  Also, please note that an author can edit, publish and delete their posts, as well as upload files/images. They can’t edit, publish or delete any posts that someone else has created.

  If they’re still having trouble, have them take a screenshot of their dashboard and upload it to your site’s media gallery and I would be happy to take a closer look at what is going on. Here’s a reference on how to take a screenshot:
