new posts don't appear on home page when Mystique theme is activated

    Hi,
I don’t have a static home page in my blog, http://klutzdiaries.wordpress.com/ so my latest posts appear at the top of my home page (i.e. when I don’t have any sticky-posts of course). I liked the theme Mystique and activated it, but later when I published a post it didn’t show up on the home page. I could access the post via permalinks and archives etc, though. I messed around a bit, deactivating and reactivating different widgets trying to see if any of them was causing the problem, but nothing worked. I finally changed my theme to Pilcrow and the new post turned up on the Home page as it should. And when I switched back to Mystique to check if it worked fine then, the post disappeared again. Is there something wrong in the theme? I really liked it…

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Will you please provide an active link starting with http:// to the post in question so we can examine it?

that’s the post that caused me all this problem… it shows up just fine in the theme Pilcrow! :)

Will you please switch to the Mystique theme again so we can see if that post will display now? I’m thinking that this inclusion :O in the blog title may be a factor but I don’t know if it is or not.

i activated Mystique, and did another experiment i hadn’t tried last time… the most attractive part of the theme is its “featured:” header that shows pics from a sticky-post and my latest post was a sticky one… I posted a dummy post and it did appear (while the ‘doomsday’ post didn’t). does that mean sticky-posts aren’t going to appear on home pages? it kind of defeats the whole purpose of sticky-posts

Have you tried editing that Doomsday post and checking the settings in the Publish module? I’m wondering if you toggle the “sticky” setting off and then on again and click “Update” if it will appear then or not.

    Does this help at all?

    Featured (“Sticky”) Post
One featured post will show up in the header if the post is set as sticky, has a featured image attached, and the featured image is at least 940 pixels wide. If you have more than one post that meets these criteria the most recent post will be displayed.

The featured post area will show in the header of every site page unless you expressly turn it off in Appearance → Theme Options; in that case it will only be displayed on the home page. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/mystique/

Aha! I see that post displaying now.

no, it doesn’t work if I toggle the ‘sticky’ option because as soon as i enable ‘sticky’ again, the post vanishes. i finally understood what’s going on… this theme doesn’t keep a sticky-post on top; rather than showing the latest sticky post on top, it displays just it’s banner… it’s a major relief that my ,ost recent posts won’t just vanish from my home page!!! thanks for your hel :) :)
