new posts not at top of page in expound

    Hi guys,

    I’m here: https://thethreethirds.org

    Over the last 3 days any new posts I add are not showing up at the top of the page – they do appear under their category and appear lower down on the main page. I’ve tried messing with categories and tags, but the only fix was when I changed to Twenty Sixteen. Then when I changed back the problem recurred.
    Any ideas how to fix what I think might be a theme specific problem? (could well be totally wrong).

    Hi there,

    Posts tagged write (the tag name you set via the Featured Content panel of the WordPress.com Customizer) will be featured at the very top of your home page.

    I took a look at your most recent post (published seven hours ago) and can see that it has been put in the write category but does not have the tag.

    The difference between categories vs. tags is an important one for your purposes. Posts needs to be tagged with write in order to be featured at the top of your home page, a category will have no effect on where the post appears.

    Thanks for your help. Unfortunately I’ve tried that and it’s hasn’t corrected it. Any other ideas?

    I checked over your site and am seeing all five of the most recent posts that have been tagged write in the top featured area.

    As those posts have been tagged write, they will appear in the top featured area and not in the main listing of posts beneath that. If you’d like the posts to appear in both places, then navigate to the Featured Content panel of the WordPress.com Customizer and check the box next to Display tag content in all listings.

    If that doesn’t help, please provide the title of a post/posts that you believe should be appearing in the featured area and I’ll take another look.
