New Posts Show Schedule Button, Not Publish Button
-
I’ve noticed for a while now using the new layout of wordpress (on the web not an app) that whenever I create a new post, instead of the publish button, there’s a schedule button instead. How do I get it to be a publish button?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Also I completely forgot that WordPress automatically posts a link to your blog when you try to use the help form. Can a mod please REMOVE it? Thank you!

Bump! It only happens when I first create a new post. If I save it as draft, exit it, then go back into it, the publish button is there.

Howdy!
Please share the URL of the site you’re working on.
The post editor works with an auto save feature so that your work is continuously saved.
When you first open up a new post, you should find a white ‘preview’ and a blue ‘publish’ button in the upper left corner atop the options. The ‘publish’ button will become functional after you add some text to the post.

Hi! I don’t want a link to my blog posted on here so I set it to private until the link to it is removed by a mod.
I’ve used WordPress for years and my site isn’t new. This problem is new and it started a few months ago after one of the more recent updates to the layout of wordpress.com. Hopefully you can help because it seems like a bug!
I click to start a new post. When the page first loads, yes, the preview and publish button are there like I’d expect. They’re just grayed out because obviously there’s nothing to preview or publish yet.
Once I start typing, they become active, but when my post saves, whether I do it manually or auto-save does it, the publish button changes into a schedule button automatically and nothing I do gets it back to the publish button.
Sometimes just exiting out of everything and going back into it through drafts will fix it but it’s random. There are also times when the publish button will reappear in the middle of me typing then just disappear again so nothing I’m doing could have triggered the change.
I wish I could post a video or something here so you could see it happen.

Thanks for taking the time to explain these details. I’m going to talk this over with the team and I’ll report back once I have an update.
I also removed the link to your blog.

Can you check and see if the clock on your PC is set automatically? I found these instructions that should help.
Since this is happening in multiple browsers it leads me to think that it could be a setting on the PC. This would explain why you’re being asked to schedule rather than publish when working in the post editor.

Hi! I checked my system and the internet time was set to synchronize with Microsoft. I synced it manually and tried creating a new post again and it seems to have done the trick! The publish button stays a publish button after saving.
I’ve never had to do that before, so I’m guessing maybe the updates where this started happening changed something to do with the way WP picks up your system time or something? Either way, glad this fixed it! Thanks again!
