New Premium Custom Design User

  I recently purchased the Premium Custom Package.

  Am I correct in that I cannot use jQuery and javascript code on my pages?

  Also – I do have a self-hosted site as well. What exactly are the advantages to moving my wordpress.com blog to my own domain?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  You are correct — you cannot use jQuery and Javascript here at WordPress.com (even with the Premium upgrade) because we remove it for security reasons. You can read more about this here: Code

  There are various pros and cons for hosting your site here at WordPress.com or having a self-hosted WordPress.org site. We outline some of the differences here: WordPress.com and WordPress.org

  Thank you for your response. I guess I just wish it was a little more obvious during the sign up process.

  Can you please clarify: I purchased the Custom Design Package – and I keep getting a “A free domain was included in the purchase of your WordPress.com Bundle. Get that domain for your site now!” message.

  Does that mean I can move to a new Domain (and thereby be able to alter my themes and use scripts?

  The free domain that comes with WordPress.com Premium will let you use a custom domain (such as yourgroovydomain.com) instead of your free WordPress.com address ending with .wordpress.com, but the site itself is still hosted by WordPress.com. Sites hosted by WordPress.com can’t use scripts or alter the theme files, for security reasons.

  If you need that kind of functionality, you might want to consider moving your site to a self-hosted WordPress.org installation. We have a guide for moving to WordPress.org here:
