New Preview post behavior — or a bug?

Up to yesterday, invoking Preview Post would open a new tab.
Last night and today I’ve gotten sporadic different behavior: the post entry form would disappear to be replaced by the previewing post!
This had a bad effect this morning. I hit Back and it gave me an error message about failing to be able to edit the post.
I didn’t lose anything, though, because I always Save before preview. So I got back into the post via Manage->Posts.
But I’d like to know if what I’m experiecning is a bug or … what?
XP with Fox 2.0.0.13 with no problems before this.

Haven’t tried it with the .com but my self-hosted still opens with a new tab ok. No settings have changed in an update to FF I assume?
Remember to save before preview EVERY TIME as I discovered earlier that the editor does not auto-save when you preview the post before publishing.

Seriously, I just tried it with a new post (and some link love!) and the preview button opens in a new tab for me no problem. FF 3 beta 5.

No.

Oh yeah. I saw that within the first hour they did the sneak attack — uh, surprising glorious upgrade on us, that Friday evening.
It’s stopped doing what I asked about. One of those irritating transient things…

It’s a bug. Several people reported it. One had an unclosed tag and he closed it and now the links always show up.

I noticed this yesterday, and again this evening with a blog I guest post on, and the blog main page has no open tags and the W3C validator gives the page a clean bill of health (validates 100%) and the previous links still appear and disappear randomly. Clearing the cache and force reloading has no effect. If you go back in a half hour or so, the link will be there. Go back again in another half hour or so and it will be gone again.
There is a bug of some sort.

I should have added that this may be theme related. On my own .com blog using Andreas09, the links never seem to disappear, but on the other blog where I guest post, it is using Contempt.
OT: I did notice when looking for a reason for the previous link to disappear, that on any page where you have inserted an image using the flash uploader, you end up with validation errors. The aren’t “OMG BBQ” errors, but they are errors that should not be generated.
