New site

I’m looking to make my own site and i heard about wordpress.
i found a domain on godaddy i liked for $10/2years.
what i’m having trouble with figuring out is can i purchase that domain at godaddy and then forward it to wordpress for free to actually create something for the page?
it seems that i have to buy the domain for 10 at godaddy and then it would cost another 13 a year to have it here as well so its like buying it twice?
i’m a little confused. the same domain would be 18 a year at wordpress. do i have to buy it at wordpress?
please and clarification or guidance would help.

    Hi

    You can do both ways.

If you buy your domain outside wordpress.com, you will need to follow the steps found at https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

If you buy inside wordpress.com, you will use the instructions found at https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/register-domain/

The price for a new domain in wordpress today is $18, all included, domain and mapping, so you don’t need to setup a domain mapping, since wordpress.com takes care of that for you. Please visit your https://wordpress.com/domains page for more info.

    hope that helps
