New site
-
my current site is hosted by another company and is not in wordpress. I want to build a new site using wordpress, and hosted with a local host. I want to keep the old site up and running before launching the new one. How do I do that?

Hi there,
That is not an issue – what you could do is create a site with a free WordPress.com blog address. You are assigned a
.wordpress.comor a.home.blogsubdomain whenever you create a site with WordPress.com. Therefore, you can keep your current site up while using the.wordpress.comaddress as the temporary domain as you build the site and determine whether or not this is the platform you want to use. Once you are done developing the site, you can make the decision to transfer the domain over:https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/
map an existing domain:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
Or even creating a new one:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/register-domain/
Then, you can launch your new WordPress.com site and close your former site.
Hope this helps,
