  Are you referring to “Free Domain for One Year” at https://wordpress.com/pricing/ ?

  A domain registration is included free in all paid plans for its first year, and will renew at the rate listed at https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/ on its second year.

  The plan itself is not free for the first year and will be billed as soon as you purchase it.
