  Good afternoon! I have a current website but it needs an overhaul. How do I start a new website without bothering the one that is online currently? I want to keep the web address just need to update the website without customers knowing until it’s finished.

  Hi –

  No problem :) Just go to https://wordpress.com/start/ and register a new, free, site address.

  Once you have that registered you can set it to be private, which hides it from the internet. https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  It’s asking me to link it to the current site address though. I’m wanting to edit without it publishing to the site automatically. Is this an option. I just bought a new theme.

  Hi @cablecabana, you should be able to pick a free address for now then add your real address later. If it’s not letting you do that, let us know which plan you need and we’ll help you get it added.
