New Site Advice
-
Hi all. Disclaimer: While I am a software developer, it’s on an entirely different stack and I have very little experience with both, WordPress and php. I’m currently creating a membership site for my own purposes that is real estate focused and would appreciate some feedback on my plan. I will likely get the core functionality up and then hire someone to polish up some of the features. I imagine many people will cringe at my use/reliance of plugins, but here we go….
Core Focus:
A place for Real Estate Investors to list their properties for sale. Some of the properties will go out on an email campaign. These investor users will have a page for their profile/bio, which will also link to their property listings.
Registered users that are NOT investors (ex. plumbers, electricians, contractors, agents, lenders, etc.) will also have a profile/bio page with company info, pictures, etc., but I currently plan on having them in a separate section
The profiles/bios/company pages need to be editable from the front end.
There will be various subscriptions, including free trialsAdditional Vision:
I would like to create a community, with a formal blog, a forum, private messages, user profiles, etc.
In the future we would like to build out an education/online course area and keep it encapsulated in this same site. Here are the tools I plan on using. Of course I’ve read reviews, compared features, etc., but I would like to get some feedback from active community members. I also would like to hear of any concerns with using these together.
1) RealtySpace for the theme, as it already has some of the UX I have in mind. https://themeforest.net/item/realtyspace-real-estate-wordpress-theme/15965811
2) Memberpress. It looks like I will need the ‘plus’ plan for it to play nice with buddyPress. Will it also play nice with bbPress? It looks like Paid Membership Pro is another good option. I’m open to either as they’re both highly rated and have desired features.
3) WP Frontend Pro. https://cybercraftit.com/wp-frontend-pro/
4) bbPress
5) BuddyPressIf you’ve made it this far, thank you for your time.

Hi @mocode85 ,
Wow! I can see you are a good planner and you’re definitely thinking things through before creating your site. Great job!
While I would love to give you advice, I must inform you I believe you have come to the wrong place. These forums are for WordPress.com services. It seems you are creating a self-hosted site using WordPress provided by WordPress.org. These are two separate services.
WordPress.com and WordPress.orgThe best advice I can give you is to go to the WordPress.org forums. The community there is just as friendly and helpful and someone should be able to offer you the feedback you are after.
https://wordpress.org/support/forums/I wish you all the best!
