New Site Name Vs. Old Links?

  • Unknown's avatar

I have changed my wordpress address from jeremymasseyprototype.com to blog.jeremymasseyprototype.com. My original root domain now points to a Weebly site and my wordpress blog has been changed to blog.jeremymasseyprototype.com. My question is what will happen if someone finds a link from a search engine or from another site that points to a blog post or a page that was originally part of my jeremymasseyprototype.com original wordpress blog. Will they reach an error page since the name of my blog is now different? Is there any way to fix this? Thank You For Your Time.

    Hi there!

Because of your mapping you shouldn’t experience any problems. However, it can take 4-6 weeks for google to index your site changes, so it may take search engines a bit of time to “catch up” with the adjustments you’ve made.

One action I’d suggest is to submit blog.jeremymasseyprototype.com for inclusion in Google’s index:

    http://www.google.com/submityourcontent/website-owner/

You can also submit a sitemap at the link above.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers!
