New site using old URL

  Hi,

  I am making a new website for a company using WordPress Mint. The boss would like to keep the URL of his old site and make it the URL for the new site.

  The old site is not a WordPress site. Is this possible? Also, I am unable to log in to Mint using my WordPress login–do I have to have a Mint login separate from my WordPress login?

  What is the URL of your current site? It sounds like you may be setting up a self-hosted WordPress.org site and not a WordPress.com site.

  Uhh, well the site now is http://www.vcccm.org….the boss likes that and wants to keep it. I imagine that’s not possible, though, if I’m going to be creating an entirely new site using a totally different platform?

  So, the best place for self-hosted WordPress questions and support documents is here:

  http://wordpress.org/support/

  But generally, yes, you can use a domain you have registered with your new site. You just need to talk to your webhost and ask them what their nameservers are. Then log into your domain registrar and change your domain’s nameservers to the values they give you.
