New site with an existing domain
-
Hi,
I purchased the domain http://www.artupcycle.com from GoDaddy and want to use that for my site. This will be a multivendor ecommerce site.
But as I started setting up the account initially, WordPress won’t let me use that exact domain. It insists I use hyphens in the domain.
Am I required to purchase a domain from WordPress to create the site? Everyone says WordPress is the best platform, so I really want to use it, but I really need to use the domain that I purchased. I will also be hosting elsewhere, but I’d regret having to use a different company to build. I anticipate thousands of vendors on the site, so I need a solution to the domain issue to get started.
Thanks

Hello,
you do not have to purchase a domain directly from WordPress.com, you can use the GoDaddy one if you wish.
You can see the instructions on how to point a domain to your WordPress.com blog here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/However, you will need a plan other than the free one to use Custom Domain Name on your blog, you can see the details and the pricing here:
