New Sketchfab embed – doesn't work for me?

  Hello,

  It was recently announced that WordPress.com now supports Sketchfab embed (yay!). However, the blog post states all you need to do is paste your Sketchfab model URL into the visual editor and it automatically embeds, but this doesn’t work for me.

  Can anyone help?

  I think you are referring to a wordpress.ORG plugin that we cannot use on a wordpress.COM hosted blog.

  Are you aware of the differences between wordpress.COM hosted blogs and wordpress.ORG sites?

  WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.   You are confusing wordpress.com hosted blogs and wordpress.org software installs.

  There is no FTP access https://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/ and no blogger installed plugin capability. Blogger installed plugins are not permitted here at WordPress.com for various security reasons. No upgrade changes that reality. https://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/

  Thanks. That’s news to me and I don’t know how to help. If you cannot get what you need to successfully embed from the instructions at that link, then type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help.   WAIT! I just found the relevant support doc https://en.support.wordpress.com/sketchfab/ Hopefully, that guide will produce positive results.

  Hello,

  After posting this on the Sketchfab forums also, we discovered the issue was if the link has any formatting (centering, near to an image, hyperlinked) then it won’t work!

  Thank you so much for sharing that formatting part here. I have bookmarked this thread so I do not forget that when I answer future threads. I will leave the tagging for Staff in place so they update the support doc with that additional information in the Troubleshooting section.
