New “styles” – Font color for navigation menu

Seems the video guides are referencing an old layout. I’ve been fighting to perform a simple change in the site editor. Have tried all apparent methods to change the font color in the navigation menu to no avail. Created custom style for navi, tried cycling through the other color options, etc. It’s driving me mad that such a small thing is so difficult to complete. It looks so easy in the tutorial (https://wordpress.com/support/menus/customize-the-menu-design/). PLEASE HELP…
On another note, when in the style editor, there is no easy way to go back to the site editor main screen. I have to exit and re-enter.

Hey there, let’s see if we can figure this out. When you enter the site editor you should see a “patterns” menu item which contains a list of all the different building blocks you have available to you on your site. In the left list if you scroll down you should see a “header” menu item under “template parts” (depending on the theme you have activated). Click this and then click on the little pencil icon at the top of the sidebar to edit the header. This will take you to the editor and from here you should be able to follow the tutorial you linked above.

I hope I’m understanding you correctly here but I assume you mean styles section in the site editor. Do you see a little back arrow next to the “Styles” title in the left sidebar? Clicking that should take you back home.

Good morning, thank you for the replies @saxonafletcher. This is the styles screen, where is the back arrow? (other than the browser back button)
With your guidance I was able to finally change the text color in the pattern! I wish it was an easier process but I guess I only needed to do it once or twice, so it is what it is.

Hi @pescousa, the screenshot is helpful.
Yeah in this case, Block Settings (upper right, between the question mark and semi-circle icon) is probably where you wanted to be.
