New tab opens when someone clicks on my post

Whenever someone (or myself) clicks on one of my posts on my wordpress site, it is opened up in a new tab. How do I remove this? I’d like for, when someone clicks on any of my articles, for it to be opened in the same tab, rather then getting opened up in a different tab. I remember seeing an option that addresses this but I am unable to find it again. What do I do?

    Hi @faithfulphilosophy,

I visited your site at faithfulphilosophy.wordpress.com and was not taken to a new browser tab when clicking through the links there, I remained in the same tab.

Can you point me to the specific links on that site that are leading you to a new tab? Do you also get taken to new tabs when browsing other sites or does it only happen on faithfulphilosophy.wordpress.com?

It’s only possible to set links in your menu to open in a new tab through WordPress.com. All other links will open in the same tab by default, unless overridden by a browser extension or third-party software.

The setting for your menus can be found by navigating to My Site in the top left of WordPress.com and selecting Menus from the left sidebar:

    https://wordpress.com/menus/faithfulphilosophy.wordpress.com

From there, select the pencil icon next to a menu item and you’ll then see a checkbox to “Open link in new window/tab.”

If you’re still seeing links opening in new tabs on faithfulphilosophy.wordpress.com then let me know those few extra details I requested and we can troubleshoot further.
