New theme for my photoblog

  • Unknown's avatar

After a year, I feel the need for a makeover on my theme. What I would like is something similar to what I have in turns of layout, but one that will allow for larger photographs (pictures on the page, not the file size). I looked at duo and monotone, and don’t really like them. When I preview other themes, the pictures aren’t any larger. I looked at variable width themes thinking the issue was with my current fixed-width theme, but that didn’t seem to matter. Is this related to the size of the pictures on my current blog? Is it related to a setting that I can adjust in the preview?

    Guidance will be appreciated!

Take a look at this post by Panos. It lists the maximum image width for all the themes here.

    Maximum displayed image width

The images you have already inserted into posts or pages will not automatically resize to fit the maximum width of the new theme. You will have to edit the posts and pages and reinsert the images. The reason for this is the size is set in the image code in the post when you first insert the image and publish the post or page.

A number of themes here have full-width layout options (no-sidebar) in the theme options, and a number have no-sidebar/full-width page templates for static pages. You can go to http://theme.wordpress.com/ and filter the output to show only one-column themes to find those with the full-width layouts.

Thanks for the help. I suspected as much (regarding the original size of the pictures). You saved me a ton of experimentation.
