New Theme Plz: Simple Letter

    Hi,
Am new in blogsphere, just got one blog & that’s in WordPress!

    My request:
You see, what i’m doing is slightly different from many bloggers (i think). Am using wordpress as my direct-mailing tools. Instead of a regular blog, i put them in open letter format. So, what’s missing is the theme for it.

    You know, something like:
At the top, on the back is an envelope (with the alternate blue & red thick lines). Would be nice if we bloggers could upload our own (local) stamp and post-marked, to make it realistic.
Over the envelop is a simple white (and/or beige) letter, where our blog will be published on.

I dont have any website, but i do a lot of on/offline promotions to attract targetted traffic to that blog. It’s like saying to them; “i’ve written u a letter, if u’d like to read them, please go to http://www.myexampleblogletter.wordpress.com.”

The rest of wordpress supports are great! esp the stats.

    My question:
Why cant u guys allow us make our own theme? U know very well that one of the best things to be is letting users to contribute. No need for example, u guys now better than me.

Anyway, great to have u guys around. Am still digesting the many things u offer for my blog.

    Salam Aman Damai

The reason people can’t make their own themes is very simple: with almost a million bloggers sharing a blogging backbone, WordPress can’t afford to let individuals inject code into the system at will. Any mistakes or malware would affect everyone. It’s not like every blog exists independently; they’re all tied together behind the scenes, operating on exactly the same software. That’s why you can’t change the code.

But you can BUY THE CSS UPGRADE and change the look of your blog, so if you have the money and know what you’re doing, go ahead and do that.

By the way, using your blog as direct mail is probably violating the non-commercial aspects of the term of service agreement that you signed, but you’d have to ask staff to be perfectly sure.
