    Hi there!

It looks like you added a Site Redirect upgrade. I’m not sure if this is what you’re looking for. Let me clarify when Site Redirect is used.

If you’ve been using WordPress.com for a while and you’ve moved to an external host, you can use Site Redirect to redirect the WordPress.com address to a different domain/site address. It’s also useful if you move from one WordPress.com site to another and you want the old WordPress.com address to redirect to the new one.

May I know what your goal is with the domain? It looks like you have a full website on your domain. Do you want to use the WordPress.com address for your blog, or would you consider using a subdomain (like blog.wightsmodelaircraft.com.au)?

We can share suggestions once we know more about what you’re going for. But as it stands, I think Site Redirect isn’t what you’re looking for.

    Regards

Okay thankyou …. we have a website with big commerce (shop) and we to create a blog to value add and build traffic to our website word press was recommended by big commerce. so I have been starting to try the process now it seems I have already done the wrong thing. I have created an account with wp and seem t have got lost from there? I did watch the video and it looke quite straight forward but I seem to have got off on the wrong foot from the start and would like to start again

  • Hey there,

We’ll do our best to get you back on track!

I have created an account with wp and seem t have got lost from there?

Ok, so it looks like the site: wightsmodelaircraft.wordpress.com has been created on this account – is there where you wish to house the blog?

Also, which domain do you want the blog to be found under? It’s possible to perhaps house the domain under a subdomain like: blog.wightsmodelaircraft.com.au?

To note, in order to have a custom domain, the site would need to be on a paid plan: https://wordpress.com/pricing/ – so please tell us which features you require with the blog, and we can suggest an appropriate plan for you.

Once confirmed, we’ll put together next steps in how to get started. :)

Hello sorry for the delayed response. I wanted to set up a blog for wightsmodelaircraft.com.au the blog facility in big commerce (our hose) is juts basically a place to write text with not customisation. When I found this out they recommended I use wp to create a blog for our wightsmodelaircraft.com.au site and that it could be intgegrated with our website. You mentioned that we already have a wightsmodelaircraft.wordpress.com account. I have obviously set this up thinking this is the first step I needed to do to start the process. Now I have subscribed $17 per month unnecessarily and very confused. I apologise – this is my first step into ‘blog world’

Big Commerce support alluded this would be free.

  • Hey there!

Welcome to the blog world! :D

Ok, so what you’ve paid for here, is the site redirect of wightsmodelaircraft.wordpress.com to wightsmodelaircraft.com.au – so it sounds like you want to undo that, is that correct?

Does having a blog site under something like blog.wightsmodelaircraft.com.au – sound like something you need?
