New to Blogging and Struggling!
-
Hi,
Not sure if i’m a bit spent and lazy at the moment, but i’m not getting very far. I’ve picked a theme, and posted a few photos just to test the waters. The photos are not appearing in the front page. Only the last post is and i have to click “continued reading” for it to show. I do i get it to show all the previous posts?
More generally, it’s like these specific things that i’m not sure how to do. Nothing fancy, but just trying to do the least that’s in the theme demos. I’ve looked at tutorials on youtube but many of these are very long. I will sit through them at some point, but again i don’t know whether they will show me something specific.
Any recommendations, tips and advice for absolute beginners would be appreciated.
Many thanks,
-

It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.By default the front page of the blog is the only page that will display all published posts on it. As soon as you publish a post not a page the error message will be gone. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/

Hello,
Thanks for your reply. There is one particular aspect i’m struggling with at the moment and i’m wondering if you can advise. So i understand that different themes have different constraints on image sizes. One theme i was having trouble with was the “Expound” theme. I could not find many guidelines for it. The idea is that an image can be any size in the actual post but for it to be displayed in the front page it has to be a specific size so it can then be an “excerpt”. I know this because i have since found a theme for large images and that displays full size images on the front page. Can you offer some more advice on this particular area of wordpress.
Thanks,

One theme i was having trouble with was the “Expound” theme. I could not find many guidelines for it.
You need to go to the detailed theme description page for Expound, which I also use on my personal blog. There you will find the instructions you need that apply to the theme http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/expound/ and here’s the live demo site link http://expounddemo.wordpress.com/
Note tha featured image dimensions are critical to their display. What are the optimum dimensions for the featured images?

700px × 466px (scaled to 580px × 386px)

front page: 460px × 260px

“Your first five posts using your newly created tag will show up as your primary featured post and the remaining four will display as columns”
The ideal size for the featured image in the “primary” (larger) featured post is 460 x 260 pixels. If you make all your featured images that size, the four smaller featured posts displayed below the main one will be automatically resized proportionately.
Within a two-column single post, an image inserted into the post (not a featured image) can be 700px max.
