can i change a PAGE into a PROJECT on my PORTFOLIO? (so that I don’t have to re enter everything as a new PROJECT?)
Can a PROJECT just link directly to another website? (e.g., my portfolio is now my home page and I’d like one of those featured images and text for one of my PROJECTs to just go directly to another website I maintain)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,

There isn’t a way to just convert an existing post or page to a portfolio project. However, I let our team know that you’re interested in doing this, so they can consider adding that feature in a future update.
For now, I’d recommend opening the page in the page editor, copying the content, and pasting that into a new project for your portfolio.

There isn’t a way to make the featured image and text for a specific project to link directly to another website. Two ways you might link to that website:
1. Put the link to that website on the project’s page. That way, visitors who click on the project can then go on to your other website.
2. Add a custom menu to your site with a custom link to that other website.
Please let me know if I can do anything more to help!

Thanks much for your reply – it’s often helpful to know what CAN’T be done as well as what can be done.
This leaves me with one other question, I think, which is the “Format” type which is listed on the right in each Portfolio project. I would have thought, based on forums about the Format type for Pages, that I could use the “link” format to make the Project directly link to another website, but either I’m not using the Format type correctly or it doesn’t actually work for Portfolio projects? I haven’t found any help topics specific to Format type for portfolio projects, or how to use them.

You’re welcome. :)
The formats for portfolio projects work the same way as formats for regular posts: Post Formats
Each theme handles post formats a bit differently, but the basic idea is that each format may have a different appearance on your blog. (Not all themes will have different appearances for all the different formats.) However, it won’t change the functionality — so a link format is a specific style when you want to make a post or project that’s highlighting a link to somewhere else, but it won’t make the project directly link somewhere else.
I hope that helped clear up how those format types work, but let me know if you have any other questions about it.
