new to reactivate previous theme.. HELP!

  • Unknown's avatar

A few moments ago I accidently activated a theme to my blog, and want to reset it back to my previous theme, of which I can’t recall. Is there a way I can reset the theme back to what I had previously with all the formatting and colors intact?
I’m looking in my dashboard and can’t seem to find a way to go back. Please help, the theme I activated is hideous and don’t want to change any of it’s formatting in case I am able to reset it back to what I had.

    BIG thanks in advance! Aimee

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Aimee. In order to assist you, we need the URL of your blog, starting with http:// please. Thanks.

I found the theme and got it back. But for future reference is this at all possible to revert to a previous theme?
http://www.shootfromthehip.us thought you would be able to see my blog via my username :)

Here is how to link your username to your blog:

How to make your name link to your blog:
Go into your dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to ‘Account Details’. In the spot where it says ‘website’ fill in the address of your blog and save the changes.
Now… when you comment here and on other blogs, your name will link to your blog. If you do this before you post your request for help, it will allow forum volunteers to be able to help you quicker since they won’t have to ask you for a link and wait until you come back to post one.

could someone still assist me in finding a means to reverting back to a previous theme
    if activating a new theme?

There is no magic button you can click and revert a theme. Go here > Appearance > Themes and look for it. Or go here > http://theme.wordpress.com/

Or Google your blog’s name or address and look for a “cached” version sporting the old theme. Then scroll down and look for a mention “Blog at WordPress.com. Theme: __ by __”.

I tried that. I went back to spring and still saw the red version of Modularity Lite.

Timethief, after I activated the “wrong” theme, I did look in appearance/theme and only saw the current them. No history of the previous theme.

airodyssey, I will keep that in mind.My only concern is by searching it will refresh my blog page and show the current theme.

I’m in the process of changing my blog and creating a separate website for my photography.

1Tess – I added my website in my personal profile. Thank you for the heads up! Hopefully this will help in the future.

Google used to have a link below the found sites called “cached” which you could click on to see their view of the website when they last crawled it.

It is now generated by your hovering over the right side of their found links where you will see a double arrowhead >>. That is where you can slip your cursor over to see the cached version rather than the current version.

BTW: thanks for linking your username!

    Got it! :)
I’m still looking at WP themes and using the “preview” button to (carefully) view my site. :)

    @ahipshooter
If you are experimenting with themes to move even a part of your blog, then may I suggest that you get yourself another (free) blog. Make that extra testing blog private. Export your current live blog to the private one, and don’t forget to have them bring the image files over. With the private test blog, you can change themes to your heart’s content and only you will know. Play with the various themes, keep notes on what you like and dislike on each.

Previewing a theme is never as detailed a “test drive” as activating the theme. Look at archives, categories, tabs, colors of titles on widgets, does the author’s name show, date show, how to viewers know to comment…tons of details.

1tess – I do have another WP blog that has been waiting to be used and I may just re-invent that blog as my photo website. Still looking into other possibilities into linking my blog to my other WP site, or to an external site.

thank you 1Tess and everyone who responded quickly to my post.
Support here has been great in the year I’ve been with WP. :)
