New to WordAds & quite puzzled
-
Hi everyone!
Having switched to a Jetpack premium plan I thought I’d give WordAds a try. 10 year-old blog, expecting around 2000 unique visitors a day, mostly from Romania (EU) via facebook.
For three days now, however, my 2 ad spaces have shown nothing but placeholder ads or a blank space. When I access stats, they show 3900 ads served yesterday = revenue of $0.08.
Is there an issue with my website? (It’s mostly cartoons of my own making, reviews and satire, nothing X-rated) Or is WordAds just a bad choice for a Romanian-language blog? :(
(Would like to know because this was one of the reasons I signed up for Jetpack premium.)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
There’s nothing wrong with your site, and WordAds is working fine.
But your site is not written in English, and almost all your traffic comes from Romania. That means you have a very small potential readership for your site, and there would be very few advertisers interested in advertising on your site.
Online ads, including WordAds and other networks, like Google Adsense, work like the stock market – when someone visits your site, the different advertisers bid in real time on the ad space on your site. The one with the highest bid gets to display their ad, and your earnings depend on the size of the bid.
On a site with low traffic, and all the traffic coming from mainly one country, much fewer advertisers are bidding, because only those advertisers targeting the Romanian market will be interested in advertising on your site. So sometimes there will be no bids at all, and those that do bid won’t have to bid very much to win the auction. This means lower earnings.
The only way to change this, is to increase your site’s audience – not just the total number, but also getting visitors from more parts of the world, so that advertisers targeting more markets will start wanting to show ads on your site.
