New to wordpress, cannot get links or share buttons to work

  Hello all! I just made a new blog, and copied and pasted some old blogs of mine to this much better platform. Any link I create or jpeg ad with embedded link takes me to, rather then the intended URL, a word press page telling me all of the blogs not allowed. It’s probably something dumb I did, but can any of you offer any advice? It would be greatly appreciated! :)

  @livingyourbest, Advertising is, except for a couple very narrow exceptions, not allowed on wordpress.COM. For the exceptions, see the last sentence under “Affiliate marketing blogs” in the bottom set of bullet points in the “types of blogs” link below.

  http://en.wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/

  When you find links or images in your blog that have the URL changed to http://en.wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/ , this means that the link that you had inserted is a violation of the terms of service here. Sometimes they make mistakes, but affiliate linking is not allowed here at wordpress.COM and in general no advertising.

  As far as share buttons, they are showing on your single post pages such as this one: http://livingyourbest.wordpress.com/2011/01/26/he-took-my-toys-a-parents-guide-to-finding-time-for-you/ .

  To get them to show on the main blog page, go to settings > sharing and select “post, pages, and index page” from the “show sharing buttons on” pulldown and then save.

  Just a suggestion, but from what I can see, your use of your blog here might not be a good fit with wordpress.COM. What might be better is to self-host a blog using the software from wordpress.ORG. In that way you can advertise and affiliate link to your heart’s content.
