New to WordPress… need help
-
Hi, I am new to WordPress… came over from blogger where I have had a blog for 5 years. The main reason I came was so that I could interact with those who leave comments and they would know it when I replied. I have been on other WordPress blogs where when someone replies to your reply you get an email notification tell you that they have. I love this feature and would like to have it on my blog. What I currently see is that to be notified that a reply has come you have to subscribe to each post. Is there a way to set it where when I reply to someone they will get an email notification telling them?
Also, I would like to know if there is a way to know who is subscribed to your blog. I am used to Feedburner and being able to log on and see who has subscribed. Would love more information on this.
Another thing I would like to know is is there a way to change the font and style on the posts? I do not understand the Format that WordPress uses “Paragraph” “Addresses” “Preformatted” etc. Blogger has a way for you to choose your font and the size. It is also single spaced unless you change it yourself.
And finally on the right hand side of the “Add New Post” page I see a Format with different things you can check such as “Standard” “Aside” “Link” “Gallery” “Status” “Quote” “Image”… can someone explain this to me please.
Thanks so much,
JulieThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

change the font and style on the posts?
These are the 3 ways to change fonts on wordpress.com blogs.
(1) Changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the HTML editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/font-size-color/
(2) Changing font colors in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page using the #4 icon (Select text color – change the text color) in Row 2 the Visual editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2
(3) Changing all font families, colors and sizes throughout the whole blog by purchasing an annually renewable Custom Design upgrade and using Typekit Fonts with Staff support. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/
Note: Any font changes to font families, colors and size in the blog title, tagline, post titles, page titles cannot be done without CSS editing.Several of the themes at WordPress.com allow blog authors to decide what format each of their posts should be displayed as.> post formats > http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/post-formats/

timetheif, I went to the settings, then discussions, but did not see a link for subscriptions. Though I do see “subscribe to comments” and “subscribe to blog options in the comment box. Both boxes are checked. I do not see anything about subscriptions under discussions.
On some of the wordpress blogs that I visit you do not have to subscribe to every post. You just subscribe one time and then from there on out you are notified when someone replies to you.
Can you tell me how to do that?

Sorry. You mean this > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-comments/
The Dashboard > My Comments page tracks comments you’ve made across WordPress.com so you can see when people reply to you. It will show your comment, one before yours, and replies after yours. The thread with the latest replies will be at top.Go to the top gray navigation bar and on the far left look for My Account, hover and a drop-down menu will appear, scroll down and click “Track my Comments”
Added note:
Every wordpress blog has two RSS Feed links ie. one for posts and one for comments so maybe that’s what you mean.
This is the RSS URL for your posts http://mylongandwindingroad.wordpress.com/feed/
This is the RSS URL for your comments http://mylongandwindingroad.wordpress.com/comments/feed/
