New to wordpress, using Espied, I have a couple of questions

  • Hi,

Can you please confirm that I will be able to :
    – have my pages texts in clear font on dark background
    – Have permanent dark background all the time around / behind the pages
    – Change the size and the colour of the subtitle of my site (located under the site’s name)
    – Reduce the space between the bottom of the header and the top of the page and the text in it

If you’re considering upgrading, I’d recommend using the Custom Design preview in the customizer. With the Preview, you can use custom colors as well as your own CSS to get the look you want. They’ll be saved within the customizer, they just won’t apply to the site until you purchase the upgrade. Then you’ll know for sure whether you can get the look you want.

You will likely need some custom CSS to fine-tune the look and feel to these specifications. If you need help with that, we have tips here:

    thanks!

Yes I did check the customiser. Among the things I want to change, the only option available is the colour of the general background.

That is why I was asking for the other changes I want to do.

I’m completely new to all this (CSS etc). But I’m also considering Cargo Collective as a platform for my site, and they enable css for free. I did play a little bit with CSS on their platform and from this experience I SUPPOSE what I want to do is basic and feasable with CSS.

    best

  • CSS is really powerful, and you could use it to make all of the changes you mentioned. I’d recommend looking at the CSS links in that post so you can get the gist of it, trying out a few things, and asking for help in the CSS forums if you need it.

Even if you do end up choosing another platform, a little CSS knowledge is very useful no matter where your site might be.
