New to your products, keen but need some help
-
I called the voicemail number on your website and heard there is a human chat support service. If that is not available I wish this message to be forwarded to support via email.
So far i’ve installed Jetpack on my blog site (curiousgaijin.com). It’s the unpaid version at the moment but I am considering paid versions of various products.
I am from Australia but live in Japan. Iam on the pacific coast, so on a clear day I can see Cali. :) I rin an investigations agency as my main gig here, but I come from more than 30 years in Broadcast media, mainly news. I’m concerned about the amount of fake news and propaganda-style content that is out there – self focussed and SELF-ish mostly. I want to be a positive voice on the internet, promoting healthy body, soul and spirit living, encouraging Blue Zone lifestyle and proper human connections.
So, with my background in broadcasting I’m interested in you podcasting platform, but first I need to get my ‘flagship’ working correctly. That is the blog site. One thing that concerns me is that when I visit the site and a post the pop-up window for subscribing keeps coming up every time.
That becomes annoying if I’ve already signed up. Also, if I do happen to put the same email address in, the pop-up continues as normal, whereas I would have thought the system would intuitively ‘know’ that I’ve already signed up.
I want to talk with someone about this, about how your SEO product is different from my current Yoast and about how I’m going to be able to integrate professional audio products (posdcasts).
btw – The site was a custom site created about 5 years ago. Initially it had Rank Math installed. Someone I hired to make some changes installed the Yoast plug-in and I discovered Jetpack and installed that. I am not using your SEO functions yet.
Thanks

Hey there Angelino, I’ve redacted your phone number since this is a public forum. It seems your site is currently using a different hosting provider, but are you interested in our managed services? We can email to talk about that if you’d like! We have a little info about the differences between our hosting and the free software here, or in-depth info here.

Is this regarding Jetpack’s newsletters, or another subscription service? Can you contact the support team for the plugin that’s generating the popup?
And if you’re looking for the forums for the free WordPress software itself, you can find those here. Let us know whether you’d still like us to email about our services. Cheers!

Hi, and thanks so much for the fast response. I’ve had hosting with Namecheap for many years. it’s their Stellar Plus package and I can host a bunch of sites there. Actually, I have 2 just now but might want more later and I can just add them if I purchase a domain or add a subdomain.
If you have a competitive offer, I am interested. I’m also keen to partner with regards to media production and podcasting so I will check your offerings there too. -
Oh, and about the pop-up to appeal to visitors to subscribe: I thought that was something I had to select when I installed Jetpack. Are you telling me that is might be another plug-in?
-
Sorry to keep pestering… The Subscribe pop-up is generated by Jetpack when checking the “inspect element” coding. I’ve been trying various plugins so I had forgotten. Okay so I guess Jetpack’s subscription options are for a popup window or an embedded signup on the page of the post. I think it best to use the second option so how can I roll back the choice for popup/embedded?
Thanks -
No worries! Sorry I missed these earlier. I want to say Jetpack recently modified their code so that it shows a popup to select categories; is that what you’re seeing, or are you getting something else? Can you share feedback in their forums at WordPress.org, in case others have the same feedback?

Our pricing varies quite a bit depending on what you get. All of it is managed hosting, so we’re taking care of updates, security, spam filtering, our fast CDN, and paid support. And we’ve got everything from free sites (that are quite limited but good for publishing) to our Business and Commerce plans that offer the flexibility of a DIY instance, with the stability and support we offer here. You’d want the Business Plan for your case so that your plugins and theme would port over nicely:

Thanks for getting back. Yes the pop-up is what I was refering to. Pop-ups are annoying at the best of times but when they keep coming up upon revisiting the same post it makes me feel like i am really pushy to the reader.
I prefer to use an embedded subscription at teh bottom of each post. Is there a way to connect the existing subscription plug-in and connect it to Jetpack instead of constant contact, for example? -
Hi there! 👋🏼
It would be best to check the Jetpack support forums at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack/.
The reason why we referred you to WordPress.org Forums is that we only provide support for sites that are hosted on WordPress.com itself. Even though your site uses WordPress software, it’s hosted on another hosting service that our support service here on WordPress.com doesn’t extend to.
The version of the WordPress software you’re using is available from the WordPress Foundation (a related, but separate organization).
What this means is that your support options for issues with your site would generally be the following:
- Your hosting provider, because they manage your hosting environment (https://whohosts.pro/curiousgaijin.com);
- WordPress.org community forums for general WordPress issues on your site; and/or
- Plugin or theme developers for plugins and themes you use on your site, in your case, https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack/.
