New type of spam?

    It seems that comment spammers may have discovered some way to circumvent Akismet as over the last few weeks I have been receiving more and more spam comments for moderation. These messages are all obsequious in their wording, trying to inflate admins egos I suppose, and don’t even all contain links to strange sites. Many of them have no links in the text and the provided URLs are sometimes a strange URL but more often links to Wikipedia. Perhaps these have some way of redirecting a click that is not easily seen. Many of the emails being provided belong to the “de” top level domain but I imagine these are either fake addresses or belong to unsuspecting victims that have had their identities or computers hijacked in some way.

    Are you aware of this problem and taking some action towards alleviating it?

    Hi there, Akismet is constantly evolving to identify new forms of spam. The best way to help Akismet learn what’s spam is to mark these new comments as spam using the link on each comment. Thanks for your help.
