new URL won't point to Dashboard
-
I’ve purchased a domain through Automattic via Wild West Domains. I’ve tried to change the name servers so that I can log in to my wordpress dashboard at the new URL, but it’s not working. I’m still at the wordpress.com site.
I called Wild West Domains and they had me look up http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/. Unhelpful.
I’m trying to set this site up for over 100 students to contribute, and I’m struggling. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from, and the domain name you desire must be available for purchase, or you must already own the domain URL.
You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard at > Store > My Upgrades to purchase upgrades for the blog.
See here if you do not own a domain http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
After you do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

Invalid Nameservers
Your domain is set up with the following name servers or their numeric equivalents:
NS3.AUTOMATTIC.COM
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COMIn order for your domain name to work at WordPress.com, you should remove the above nameservers and add only the ones listed below.
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMNote: Removing nameservers can cause things like email or other custom setups to break. Please consult with your current hosting company or registrar before removing DNS entries.

Hi Susan,
Right now, the domain multimediatoolsforteachers.com is pointed to WordPress.com (using the WordPress.com name servers). That will make it show the content of the WordPress.com site it is linked to: http://multimediatoolsforteachers.com/
Are you trying to point the domain to a different web host? If so, please let me know what web host you’re using, and I can help you look up the host’s name servers and change the domain’s name servers to point to that host. (You can also contact your new web host to ask them for their name servers, to make sure you get the right ones for your site.)

You have to start your own thread please by using this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1 -
Hi there, you can access your site’s dashboard here:
https://multimediatoolsforteachers.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
However, you won’t see options for installing plugins, as that’s a feature of self-hosted WordPress sites using the open-source software from WordPress.org (not sites hosted here at WordPress.com). Using a custom domain doesn’t change that as long as your site is hosted here. You can learn more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org if you’re interested in that.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that!
