  I want to start by building my site off line, and then publish it to a domain name I already own. Can I do this?

  Hi nkjell,

  We don’t have an offline mode but thermofusion.wordpress.com can be marked as private while you work on it:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  An existing domain can then be mapped or transferred to WordPress.com when you are ready to make the switch at a later date.
