New user doesn't have WordPress.com account

  If I invite someone to be a user (in this case, a contributor) to my blog, will they have to have a WordPress.com account? Can they be a user without having an account?

  Hi there,

  all contributors have to have a WordPress.com account, otherwise there’s no option for the system to recognize them.

  If they do not want a new blog, they can sign up for just an username on WordPress.com signup page.
