New User Questions

Hi there, my name is Nicole. I’m new to Word Press because ChatGPT told me you’re the best website platform to go with if I want to open an online store. However, after I’ve registered for it, I noticed that there are multiple steps and areas that I need to take action in. Word Press now is asking me to upgrade to Woo Commerce for my online store, which takes $45 a month. I’m confused as I don’t know what it covers or what else I would need to do. Do I need to register a domain and a host other than paying the $45? What does the money do? I would appreciate it if you could assign a agent who can assist to answer questions. Thank you!

Hey there @mountainviewjewel, our service includes excellent SSL hosting, direct WordPress support, spam protection, backups, maintenance, security, and other services and features that don’t come with the free software. Basically, as a managed hosting service, we’ll have your back in ways that the free software itself cannot. Extra code like plugins and outside themes can complicate the services we offer; that’s why there’s a price difference there.
Also, I wasn’t clear whether you were looking at our Business or Commerce plan. The Commerce plan includes a bundle of premium WooCommerce plugins. Money for those goes toward the development teams that keep them up and running smoothly.
And, domains are extra on top of the service, though we do offer a free domain credit for your first year of hosting. Otherwise, you can see our domain pricing here.
Lastly: we do have a service that can build a site for you, if you’d like a head start. If you use that, it’ll be separate pricing from our managed hosting services.
If you don’t want to use our services, you are welcome to use your own free copy of WordPress with another host. It’s more of a DIY setup, so you’ll use community resources or hired contractors if you don’t have time to take care of security, spam filtering, backups, support, and maintenance yourself.
Does that help? What do you have in mind for your site, and what kind of timeline are you considering for setup? We’re happy to answer any questions you’ve got.
