New User Registration

  I received an email today telling me someone had registered for my blog as a subscriber. I see them in my control panel as subscriber, which I understand means they can only read information. But I don’t know that I want them there, or how they got there.

  What is this feature, how does it work, what’s its purpose, and should I be worried about the fact that someone was able to register for my site without my permission?

  WordPress.com has a blog subscription feature that allows readers to signup and receive emails when new blog posts are published on any blog. Is that what you are asking about?

  If you are running a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, you might want to try the WordPress.org support forums since this support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. (If you don’t understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.)
