New VideoPress Issues
-
I will summarize the problems with the new VideoPress that makes the feature totally useless to me, and I have deleted all 129 videos from my blog so that people cannot download them against my will. I then uploaded one video to be able to determine when you have either reverted back to the old VideoPress or corrected the problems with the new version.
Noted Problems
1. At the following link: https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2015/07/01/videopress-next/, it states: “VideoPress embraces the features that users have come to love, like privacy settings and rich stats, but also includes additional enhancements.”
In conflict with “privacy”, any viewer can simply now right-click on a video when playing and download the entire video file or save the video url. This is the opposite of privacy.
The disabling of the “share” menu option for a video file has no effect on the ability for viewers to download entire videos at will.
2. The “capture thumbnail” feature no longer works. Only a default thumbnail is displayed. Previously saved thumbnails are not recognized by Videopress and for new videos, newly saved thumbnails are not really saved. You initially think you have saved a thumbnail but when you refresh the screen, the preview reverts back to the default.
3. I am not sure how widespread this problem is but for me using Windows 7 and IE version 11, if I am watching a VideoPress clip and try to expand to full screen, I can hear the sound but the expanded screen is totally black with no video.
The above problems make the new VideoPress a disaster at this time, and I have difficultly believing how it was introduced with these fatal flaw problems.
