"New" VideoPress Performance Issue

  Here is a potentially serious performance issue with the “new” VideoPress. (I have identified other issues at: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/new-videopress-issues?replies=3#post-2421414)

  I uploaded a 1 MB, mp4 file. This file is for a video clip 29 seconds in duration.

  The media page for this video initially says as usual: “This video is being processed” and mentioned it will take a “couple of minutes.”

  Actually under the old VideoPress this short clip would probably take less than a minute. Now with the “new” VideoPress it took just about 60 minutes to process. This is an unbelievable performance issue. This was super short video. I hate to think what it will take for a video clip several minutes in duration.

  If this performance is typical, it is totally unacceptable and excessively delays being able to embed videos into blog articles.
