  You can create a WordPress.com hosted site with a temporary domain name provided for free by WordPress.com. These domain names usually have extensions like example.home.blog or example.wordpress.com.

  In case you need extensive WordPress.com features, you can buy any of the plans that have a Free Custom Domain included, create the site and upgrade the domain later when you’re ready.

  Once you are ready with the website, you can transfer or map the domain name you own.
