New website

I am wanting to build an e-commerce website but want to see if i can build it myself through here without having to pay someone to do it. However, is there a way of having a go at creating it without paying the subscription fees to see if i can do it before I pay the money out?

Hi prempeople,
If you purchase an ecommerce plan you can try it out for a few days and if you find it’s not what you want you can cancel the plan and get a refund – but only within 30 days.

Thats the issue, i am not wanting to pay for it first as its not me that is going to be paying for it. I want to build it then show my company what its like before they pay out for it. As they are looking to spend more on getting someone to do it for them.

Hmm, I see what you mean.
There isn’t a way you can do that on WordPress.com but if you have lots of time on your hands and you’re willing to learn you could have a go at setting up a WordPress.org installation in a local development environment (on a server on your own computer for example).
WordPress.org is free open-source WordPress software which you can freely download and install on a server, and there are free ecommerce plugins like Woocommerce which you can then add to make it an ecommerce site.
You can read about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here, if you’re not sure what I mean: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/.
You can find the documentation for WordPress.org here: https://wordpress.org/support/
If you decide to go down the WordPress.org route it’s the WordPress.org support forum you will need to go to if you need help getting started: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/.
