  Hi
  I currently have a website through Wix. I would like to make the move over to wordpress however I need to build the wordpress site first before transferring the domain and links etc. Is it best to create a new domain and then change it once I am ready to launch the new site?

  This is a very common question. Go ahead and build your new site on WordPress.com with one of the free addresses. Import your content, customize the theme, get it all ready to launch.

  Keeping the new site private will help prevent any SEO confusion since you’re going to have the same content on two different addresses.
