  I want to re-design my brothers website but I don’t want to redirect his URL to my test site. Can I start a new site without an official URL?

  Hello!

  Yes, you can create a site with a free wordpress.com domain name. When you reach the part of the process for selecting a domain name, look for the free option at the very top of the smaller rows.

  Hi folks, @drizzleblocks is absolutely correct. You’ll just add the domain once everything is ready.

  If the site needs premium features, or if you want access to direct support prior to going live, I do recommend upgrading earlier. But even in that process, even if you transfer the domain here, you can avoid going live by keeping the domain’s settings where they are currently, until you’re ready to go.
