new website / $500

Dear Team, I would like to purchase your $500 package to transfer my website from Squarespace. Is this included in the $500 package. It has me select pages so it appears to be just the shell. I’m looking for a transfer. I have 2 sites like this. Please advise.
Thank you, IreneSelf-declared URL: coolvegancafe

Thank you for your reply… there is a $500 option and a $5k option. Can I just hire a team member hourly to do the transfer? I can not afford $5k and I have 2 sites to transfer.
-
Hi Irene, we don’t have an hourly option at this time but I’m happy to pass on the feedback that this could be of interest.
Just to check, what sort of pages do your current sites have? If you’d like to share their addresses we can take a look and see if there’s any specific suggestions we can provide with regards to transferring their content.
As it is, Squarespace’s system works a little differently from WordPress as a software, so even exporting your content from your Squarespace account and importing it here would bring over the text and images, but not the layout – that’d still need to be worked on.
Depending on what you need for the two sites, the Express version of Built By WordPress.com might still be handy for you as you can select the number of pages you want and as long as you can provide the text and images, we can sort out the layout.

Thank you for the reply… so the $500 would cover not just blank pages I need to fill out correct? These are the sites I need transferred over so hoping to pay someone $500 each. I can help and just don’t want to mess it up by doing it all by myself.

@irenemulonni I love a good vegan site! We’ll be glad to have you here.
It’s probably best to check directly with the Built By Service, since they know more about their process. Did you happen to fill out their forms already and get those quotes? If not, can you do that? I’ll see if I can find out more too.
If you’re okay with taking a more DIY approach, you might consider just setting up a fresh site and copying the content over, probably as posts for the two cafe sites, and as pages for the other one. We even have an import tool you could try, though as my colleague mentioned, that won’t bring the layout over. But we have some nice templates that could work well for you. Let us know if you want to give that a shot.

Thank you… they contacted me and their min is $5k. I hope one day you offer something in between 500 and 5k as an hourly option. Kind regards, Irene

Understood. Looks like we have a $500 fixed package and then it’s just $5K and up with our processes.
I do think you could get pretty far though with some DIY, if you’re willing. Here’s what I would do with the two cafe sites:
- Create a WordPress.com site for each one. For now, I would use this theme to get you close to what you had before.
- Try importing the data. Ideally, it would show up as posts.
- If the data does not come through as posts, the best way forward would be to copy and paste the text from each one, and add a featured images to each post. Go ahead and add a few tags, too; better for indexing your site and getting it seen.
That would get you pretty close to what you have with those two sites, then you’d just need to customize the themes a bit more – get rid of the header, add your logo, and adjust as you like. A Premium Plan for each one would allow you to get some CSS work done to get them even closer to the look you had. How much you’d pay would likely depend on how exact you need it to be, but the folks at Codeable could advise, but I’m sure it would be a lot less than $5k.
For the other non-cafe site, honestly, I’d just start fresh with a theme that’s close to what you want, and not worry too much about copying the exact layout. I’d create a site, then create each page. Use the same page titles. Pick a pattern and fill it in with text and images from the same page on the old site. Then we can help you make sure your navigation links are set up and help with any remaining questions you have. Again, the Premium Plan would be your best value given what I see – you’ll be able to customize quite a bit with that.
Let us know if you need more help with this!
