  Hello, I currently have a website with Squarespace and need to move to a free host. I do not have any IT skills and have a number of questions:
  1. Can I import the existing site (www.grahampeebles.org), which has ‘HTTPS enabled’ in one simple move? With a few clicks?
  2. I have a domain name which expires in two weeks, can I use a WordPress domain name incorporating my name for free?
  3. If I can import the current website will I then be able to edit it?
  4. Does WordPress offer design support? and are the sites easy to manage, I need something very simply, just to contain published articles – I am a writer, and accompanying photographs.

  Hi @grahampeebles,

  1) You can use these steps to import your site:

  Import a Website

  That step may require a bit of technical help, since we can’t get your XML file for you. But the instructions are there, and once you have a working XML file we can likely help.

  2) You can use a free ______.wordpress.com domain. Or you could transfer your domain here with a paid upgrade. If you want to do that, be sure to get started on it right away before the domain expires.

  3) You should be able to import the content and edit it. The layout from Squarespace will not import, but you can pick another layout here.

  4) We don’t offer full blown design services, but we do offer tips and can help you troubleshoot issuse you’re running into. If you just need to have a place to write, we have several options built in for you here.
